What is poetry?

If you didn't see what I told you to see before you see this, please go back and see Look at this before you see What is poetry.

I think that's what I wrote as the title.

O.K., so at the post before, I asked what is poetry. You might think you're smart and write an answer. Well, what you wrote as an answer is wrong. I don't care if you wrote something smart like rhymes and lines and stuff, but they're wrong.

Poetry is actually anything a person might write about. Someone writes a poem about his feelings. That is poetry. Someone writes a poem to tell an idiotic person a lesson. Again, poetry. Someone just writes anything he chooses in his own mind. They are all poetry.

O.K. Here's an example.

Dawn blushed; betrayed her waking sky
To gently break another morrow fine.
Night waned – the black receding – highland
Reaching for the early morning wine.

The chorus rendered frantic caws and
Chirps and other avian song,
Mapping out the 'mine and yours, ' and
Goading more to sing along!

Quiescent water – deep of lake –
Reflected out the hazy red, but
Through the glass, a flick, a break:
An urgent tail from hidden bed!

And in the meadow, waking faces
Calmly spread a colored veil;
The dew disclosing spider laces–
Oft with once a fly’s travail!

Dawn blushed; revealed her inner peace.
She handed on another blissful day.
Night ebbed, relenting to release of
Warming blood that gives to her display.

This is a poem called Dawn, written by Mark R Slaughter. When he was writing this, he could have just wrote a poem looking out of his window at dawn and write what he have seen.

You see, poems can be random things. They can be anything in the world. Even your own crummy house can be a perfect poem. Well, I guess it won't be the best. Still, I'm not talking about qualities of poems. What I am talking about is that everything you can do can be a poem.

So, now, what is poetry?

If you said an answer, please read this entire thing all over again.

Just kidding! You have no need to read all this all over again.

Well, that's it for this post. Starting from the next post, I am going to talk about different types of poems. I am talking about Haikus and Cinquains and Diamantes.

You are now going to enter the wonderful world of poetry.

Enjoy the Blog of poets!
